The statement above is true, biblically. We have all heard it down through the years. The question that I pose today is:

What did God chose them to do, for what purpose, has the Lord changed His mind about their mission?

Please, if you can, reference your answers with scripture, because that is the only opinion that truly counts, the Lord our God's.

For all of those who have been in a discussion about religion and seen people use the Wikipedia references, please inform them Wikipedia has an anti-Christian bias.

Wikipedia on faith:

Faith is a belief in the trustworthiness of an idea that has not been proven. Formal usage of the word "faith" is usually reserved for concepts of religion, as in theology, where it almost universally refers to a trusting belief in a transcendent reality (therefore spirituality and spiritual immortality), or else in a Supreme Being and their role as a guide for people moving into an experience of such reality.

Oh really? Like if you have faith that your car is going to start up when you walk outside?

Check out Merriam Websters definition:

1 a: allegiance to duty or a person : loyalty b (1): fidelity to one's promises (2): sincerity of intentions
2 a (1): belief and trust in and loyalty to God (2): belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion b (1): firm belief in something for which there is no proof (2): complete trust
3: something that is believed especially with strong conviction; especially : a system of religious beliefs

Interesting huh?

I have noticed that American Christians are often convinced that according to the Bible the world is going to get worse and worse, not better.

I am deeply concerned about this perspective that it will (and has) led to fatalism amongst Christians.

When I think of the Children of Israel crossing the Jordan I see a God who wants to GIVE us the land. When I remember Daniel's prophecy about a Rock that Strikes the Statue of this world's kingdoms and yet itself becomes a Mountain that fills the whole earth, I see a God that is making things BETTER.

In fact, I am concerned that quite possibly an overemphasis on the "end times" and the world getting "worse and worse" has caused Christians to remove themselves from being Yeast in every area of society.

In short, Christians are abandoning the field and yielding to wickedness due to being convinced that change and progress are not possible, we just need to wait for Jesus to come back.

So I offer a challenge to all to RETHINK that point of view. :-)

I often wonder if American Christians aren't inappropriately obsessed with "the end times." The result? Christians escape the world instead of intervening. We leave this planet and it's people to the influence of the Devil himself! Except for trying to get people "saved" we become irrelevant.

Here are some thoughts from Dietrich Bonhoeffer:

"It is wiser to be pessimistic; it is a way of avoiding disappointment and ridicule, and so wise people condemn optimism. The essence of optimism is not its views of the present, but the fact that is is the inspiration of life and hope when others give in; it enables persons to hold their heads high when everything seems to be going wrong; it gives them strength to sustain reverses and yet claim the future for themselves instead of abandoning it to their opponents. It is true that there is a silly, cowardly kind of optimism, which we must condemn. But the optimism that is willing for the future should never be despised, even if it is proved wrong a hundred times; it is health and vitality, and the sick person has no business to impugn it. There are people who regard it as frivolous, and some Christians think it impious for anyone to hope and prepare for a better earthly future. They think that the meaning of present events is chaos, disorder and catastrophe; and in resignation or pious escapism they surrender all responsibility for reconstruction and for future generations. It may be that the day of judgment will dawn tomorrow; in that case, we shall gladly stop working for a better future. But not before."

Is anyone else concerned about this?

My guess is that most of the members of this group have written off the world. What do you say>

What about "Discipling the Nations?" What about the "rock that struck the statue and itself became a mountain that filled the whole earth?"

Come on. What do you think?

The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel. - John 5:19-20

This from Henry Blackaby's Day by Day:

Jesus, realizing that His role was that of a servant, never sought to initiate activity for the Father (Matt. 20:28). The servant never sets the agenda—the master does. The servant must be so alert to what the master is doing that whenever the master begins to move in a direction the servant quickly joins him. Even the Son of God did not assume He knew the best thing to do in a situation. Instead, He looked to see the Father’s activity and then joined Him. Jesus knew His Father so well that He was keenly sensitive to divine activity around Him, immediately recognizing His Father at work.

It is possible for us to be so busy trying to bring God into our activity that we don’t even notice Him at work around us. He seeks to redirect our attention so that we might join Him, but we tend to be self-centered, evaluating everything by how it affects us. We must learn to view events around us from God’s perspective. Then we will see our world very differently. When God brings someone across our path, we will look to see if God is convicting that person of his need for salvation. Perhaps God is comforting someone in her sorrow. God might be encouraging your friend as she faces a challenge. We will then adjust our lives to join God as He works in that person’s life. We ought to live each day with tremendous anticipation as we look to see where God is working around us. As our eyes are opened to His activity, we will marvel at His great works.

I believe Blackaby's work is important to share. My website has more devotionals by Blackaby and a link to get his book.

The true love and happiness
Serafin Alarcón

The true happiness is to make the good.
Aristotle

Philippians 2
1If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

It has not happened to you that sometimes you ask yourself if in life it is possible to be happy and have peace? The human being looks for it, and yearns for his existence to have peace, happiness and joy. They are so many and so many the theories and opinions on the subject that few pages would not give to meditate on the subject. It is why I chose a thought of Aristotle like departure point in contrast to the passage of Phil 2 indicated above. The service, the brotherly affection shows the character of which it has managed to reach the highest gift or the major of all the virtues; Love. If, in the exercise of so great discipline we are developed and approaching more the supremacy of the spirit upon the flesh, the egoism and the triviality.

I ask my self, Who can be happy if not yet it has had an encounter, but it has felt loved by God and its fellow? All the creation speaks to a single voice: Love and like knowing how to give it. Some look for happiness in some substance, others in a game, in sex, money, power and nevertheless at the end of the day they finish but insatiable that when they began searching for joy… Jesus spoke of a water source that if one drink of it you will never be thirsty, by all means, spiritual. That water, is his love and the source is Christ manifesting his power and grace in our hearts. Loved, we are united by the perfect bond…

I am certain the true love will bring happiness to our lives compulsorily if we today began to exercise it of the hands of the Creator.

I heard a teaching by Tom Marshall yesterday. He was talking about the Zionists who wanted to begin Israel anew back in the 30s and beyond. They had a "shadow government" where they talked and planned for the day they would be leading their own country Israel. They were dreamers! They had a vision!

I have noticed that Americans are so convinced it is the end times in many cases that they don't have a plan for what to do if God gives them dominion.

Do you believe that God could give Christians dominion in America again? Are you ready and interested in government and other areas of society if instead of destroying America, God gives us a chance to bless America?

James Madison:

...In the former sense, a man’s land, or merchandise, or money is called his property. In the latter sense, a man has a property in his opinions and the free communication of them. He has a property of peculiar value in his religious opinions, and in the profession and practice dictated by them . . . He has an equal property in the free use of his faculties, and free choice of the objects on which to employ them. In a word, as a man is said to have a right to his property, he may be equally said to have a property in his rights. Where an excess of power prevails, property of no sort is duly respected. No man is safe in excess of liberty, the effect is the same . . . Government is instituted to protect property of every sort . . . This being the end of government . . . Conscience is the most sacred of all property; other property depending in part on positive law, the exercise of that being a natural and unalienable right . . .

In light of this, let's discuss how the Ideas of the Bible relate to Property! Your thoughts?

While FaithTag is not explicitly a Christian, evangelistic system, it is designed to allow Christian webmasters and website visitors to share their information without fear of being immediately rejected or buried simply because they are Christian.

Let me say this right off the bat. I'm Catholic. I think Mary is important.

No, I don't worship her. No Catholic does. We honor her because God honored her. She was given the responsibility and honor of bearing and raising His Son, after all.

Even the angel Gabriel found her an important person.

Luke 1:28 "And he came to her and said, 'Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!'"

No one else in the Bible is addressed this way by an angel. As an example, take a look at the way the angel addresses Zechariah earlier in the same chapter:

Luke 1:13 "But the angel said to him, 'Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer is heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.'"

So if God made Mary that important to Him, why shouldn't we also find her important and honor her?

Acts 10:9 On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:
10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,
11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:
12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat. 14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common. 16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.
17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate, 18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.
19 While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee. 20 Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them.
