The seperation of church and state only meant our government would not create its own denomination (Church of America). I believe Christians can run for office but, in order to do so, you have to be VERY boastful and VERY vain. Politics in this country are ugly. To be a Christian involved in such a dirty game may be bad for one's soul.

I don't even vote.

How about...should atheists be involved in politics? You must be asking this question rhetorically. Or, how about...should Christians be involved in basketball?

The discussion of politics and faith can be a devisive issue...therefore, the "No talking about religion or politics at the dinner table" statement.

However, life doesn't get tied up in a neat little bow, where we don't ever have arguments or bring up controversial topics, or seclude ourselves because others are offended simply because of our beliefs.

Live the life God has planned for you! And...that could mean being a politician...of all things! ;)

I believe that as Christians we should be 'salt' where God places us and if that means politics that is fine. One thing is sure - for a Christian believer to take a political office, it will mean sooner or later there will be a confrontation and will have to choose who he or she really follows. I know of several Christians who have an effective influence upon government from 'outside.' Either way it calls for a specially gifted and courageous person.

I would answer these questions in a 'diplomatic' way.

"Should Christians be involved with Politics?"

Maybe not all, just SOME

because

Christians, as other religious and not-religious denominations, are definitely a (more or less bigger) GROUP of people with similar interests and can (because of the fact of being a group or mass) therefore expect from the overall community (country, state, etc.) or leadership, to have a vote (being heard and opinion respected as an input among others) in relation to the size of their group.

Separation of Church and State

No talking about religion or politics at the dinner table

I'm not into politics, I am in to Jesus

Christianity is not about politics

You may have heard some of these things said. So here is the question: Should Christians be involved with Politics? Should they speak out on issues, run for office, campaign for candidates? If they do, is their belief in Jesus, the Bible, etc. relevant to the political world?

Your Thoughts?
