Old is 15 years ahead of wherever you are now.
    1. scorpy01
      I'll take that definition.

Old is trying to do the things you knew you could do 15 years ago and finding out you can't without a bad back to show for it.
  3. femikey01
yah but being old is just nothing specially if u still feel young at heart right? As long u still strong, happy, active and healthy, i think thats more important :-) thanks!

These days, being fifty-something isn't as old as it used to be.

I know more now than I did fifty years ago.

I've learned a little more about how facts fit together: I think it's called 'wisdom.'

My strength and endurance aren't what they were, but swapping out original-equipment hip joints for new parts helped me move around better than I have in years.

I'm still the same person I was, just a little smarter, a little wiser, and a lot balder.

I wouldn't trade what I have now with the strength and skin problems of youth for anything.

So true Norski, I wouldn't change what I know for youth.

Age is not a particularly interesting subject. Anyone can get old. All you have to do is live long enough.
  6. scottmillerd
even when you are old...there is always someone older that you can call old.
  7. kickingback77
You know you're getting old when you stoop to tie your shoelaces and wonder what else you could do while you're down there.
  8. kickingback77
I believe you are getting old when the speed limit is as fast as your willing to go and usually go under the limit.
  9. kickingback77
There is no old age. There is, as there always was, just you.

Age is mental. My body tried to age/break before I was 25, but I found a doc to sew it back together. It tried again in my mid-30s, but I found a different doc to fix that too.
Mentally I've stayed young, just as my 68 year old dad has. (My 68 year old mom has been old for 20 years.) My son is 3 1/2 and says he's getting older now. He's just not old yet though.

its great to know that theres a lot out there even they are in above 60-70's but they are still strong and happy! they can still do workout and have fun and thats good right? and i really do proud of them! well, people easily get old if we always think about the problems and not doing anything.

For me being old means getting up at 6:00 am instead of going to sleep then. It means I am the one saying turn off that light if your not in the room. Most of all it reminds me of those talks my father gave me as a teenager and how smart my parents became the first time I had to chose between food and electricity.
    1. markstoneman
      That's not old. That's mature.
  17. markstoneman
Being old? I'll let you know when I get there---if I remember how.
    1. markstoneman
Being older than I used to be? Not having to feel so damned awkward anymore. Not having to be cool either.
    2. 06mopar
Don't maturity and age go hand and hand? It also means my body hurts in places it never used to.
    3. markstoneman
Well, yeah, but age and old are two different things.

There was a time when I thought I was getting old. The challenges of raising a teenager made me feel clueless and therefore young again. How's that for some twisted logic?
    4. markstoneman
And remember, for you SNL was funny in the 80s. For me it was best in the 70s. In other words, you're young from my point of view, and I'm only 45.
  18. Serenacyh
Being old to me means getting sick, mentally and physically. I feel old alot of times.
  19. 06mopar
Good point. I think it was best in the 70's too. I just meant it hasn't been funny since the 80's
    1. markstoneman
Does that make you closer to me in age?
  20. 06mopar
I'm 33 but should have been born earlier.
  21. 06mopar
I'm just bitter way ahead of schedule.

Old is a state of mind.

    So is youth.
  25. cbenc12
Old is being more responsible for your own action.
I don't know too. I hope when I am old, I am able to accept the fact that I am old and like it. Hopefully.. =D

Being old means I will look ugly.
  28. lupideloop
Old means - no longer being independant, relying on others for some of the basic things in life!!

When I reach that stage I will consider myself old!
  29. scottmillerd
Same things you did as a baby..

Can't get around on your own...have to eat mushy foods...and someone has to wipe your bottom for you.
  30. DeathSweep
Old is relevant - when I was 6 - 15 was old, 15/25, 25/35, 35/50,and I'm sure that 50/70, 70/75, 75/80 and it just goes on...as long as there is someone older than you, you get the feeling of being young(er). 26+!!!!! OMG - a mere child - see? LOL
  31. bsd13
Old is the new young when you reach that age. Trust me when I was 20 someone 30 was ancient. Now that I'm 33 someone who is 30 is nothing but a snot nosed little brat.
  32. therealshari
Old is a state of mind.

I'm 61 and mentally, I feel like maybe 40 (it took that long to gain much wisdom). Physically, I only feel 61 the day after I've worked as if I was 25.

I love it when I'm with folks much older than I am... and they talk about how "old" some of their friends are... and that generally revolves around not being able to do things for themselves. Or, worse yet... not WANTING to do things for themselves, even though they're quite capable.

Old? It means I'm closer to death. It means that I'm approaching my ultimate purpose, to make room for all those unborn people ready to further our existence as a species. I feel like it's a privilege, that we are the lucky ones because we get old, because we die. There are so many that never had the chance that we have had.
  34. femikey01
thanks for all ur opinions guys! yah, they said being old is the time when you get more wiser. Hope i will be more wiser then when i get old, :-) i am still 25 though :-) There's a lot more years to come! my husband is 47 but for me his still look like on his 30's still young at heart, still handsome. :-)

To age well it is necessary to stay fit and active. Age is a relative thing. I hike regularly with people in their 60's and 70's. They sometimes set the pace and most are in great shape.

All it takes is to be active and eat healthy...... oh, and maybe a little luck!

yup ur right WT, when we reach at the age of 40 or 50's we still need to take care ourselves, like eat good food, more exercise, be active, be fit both mentally and physically. :-) and if we want to have a good healthy life then we need to stop all our vices. cheers!
