    Very good link!

    Thanks.

I think you've given me something for tomorrow's Apathetic Lemming blog.

legbamel, I disagree with Fatulus, too, but I did want to point out that well optimized copy doesn't look anything like what you describe here (repetitive, blandly written)

There are many recomendations about content-making (writing), but content isn`t the mostly important thing on web, seo optimization and schemes of getting back money from blogs - urgent (good link for writers and blog owners), i use development benefits from illusix.com - seo development systems

We may be looking at short-term / long-term benefits here.

I practice good SEO, in some senses at least, but that's because the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) I practice is also good, focused, tight writing.

Dumping keywords will generate traffic. Just look in the top ten results in Google searches, and you'll often find something like "Definitions for aardvark. Find your aardvark here. Aardvark is hot today. Better aardvarks. Aard..." Or "aardvark, armadillo, anteater, aunt, Amarillo, bumblebee, Beelzebub, bonnet..."

I suppose site owners could generate revenue from that sort of thing, given enough traffic.

But how many people will come back to a site like that?

At the other end of the spectrum is something like the Drudge Report - you may not like it, but it's been a profitable site for years, because people come back to get at its content.

The DR is also very much like a blog - frequently updated, with an appeal based on content rather than design.

I disagree, fatalus. If I want to read something repetitive and blandly written, I'll hunt down some SEO-obsessed content. If I want to read wrll-written, insightful, and intriguing posts I'll look for bloggers who write about their passions. You can slant your content to whatever high-paying ads you can find, make a thousand dollars, and still have a crappy blog. You can also write original, compelling content and build a strong, recurring readership. Which of those do you think will keep growing?

That is what is wrong with the internet right now. It should be about the content before it is about how "visible" you are to search engines and how much money you make. If you write good content all of that will come.

I love this post thank you very much!

I don't feel about all that. I still think you write how you feel. All this is too technical. This isn’t blogging anymore but Google seductive writing. Do what ever you want. If it looks interesting, people will stop and read that's it that's all....Love your post and the rest will come.
    1. slyvisions
Yes, I agree too. But I was speaking in terms of HOW your posts should LOOK LIKE so readers can have an easy time on your blog; not HOW you should WRITE them.
  5. laling
I agree with Blackysky,Yup we should blogging by nature and look natural..every person is unique that including how we suppose fill up the content. Some bloggers blogging because of money, many people blogging because of hobby and the rest because follow popular trends. If you see after 2-3 post then their give up,we actually know what purpose their blogging. What ever reason is doesn't matter as long is good for blogsphere.

I'm dependant upon what my big ears hear for my content. Days go by without hearing anything interesting and I get impatient because I'd like to post often. Then, bam, a gem of converstaion floats by. I do agree with the tip in your link to keep it as short as possible. If I see a post more than a screen's length long, I'm more likely to click away.
    1. MadameX
I'm having mixed feelings about this. That's certainly the commonly accepted view in the Internet marketing world, and in that environment I'm always encouraging my writers to use white space and bullets and break up long text with section headers and all that...but on my personal blogs, where I make no effort to optimize, I often find that it is the longest, densest posts that inspire the most reaction.

Just saw that post and while it might work for most cases, I don't see how it would work for humor. Or may be I am not getting the point.
  8. Sicarii
    That's a good article there.

Wasn't it Hemingway that said you should write what you know, in any case he did say this:
"My aim is to put down on paper what I see and what I feel in the best and simplest way."

He also said : "If a writer knows enough about what he is writing about, he may omit things that he knows. The dignity of movement of an iceberg is due to only one ninth of it being above water." and "I never had to choose a subject - my subject rather chose me." and "I learned never to empty the well of my writing, but always to stop when there was still something there in the deep part of the well, and let it refill at night from the springs that fed it."

He also said : "I kissed her hard and held her tight and tried to open her lips; they were closed tight." but that's another story...;-D

    *just shakes head and sighs*

Are we talking about good writing, or good marketing?

I see considerable confusion of those definitions among bloggers.
    1. slyvisions
I'm thinking the same thing also.
    2. MadameX
Writer, I suspect that the ability to blend the two is the only way most bloggers will achieve any kind of results (and, of course, our views of what means "good results" vary wildly). A well marketing blog without good content will probably flash and then flounder. A well-written blog with no marketing (or crappy marketing) will probably never be seen by the vast majority of people who might appreciate it.
    3. WokeupToday
      Madame is write.
There is no doubt in my mind that Hemingway or any successful writer wrote/writes for fame and fortune. :-)

Grrrrrreat. Splendid clever lemon pie with vinegar.
