I have to wonder...
Do you think "The Secret" is a fraud?
If not, how has it helped you in your life?
Has it changed the way you look at life?
Do you believe in the Law of Attraction?
Is it possible to have, do or be anything you want, just by being positive?

I don't think a positive attitude is limitless in its ability to assist you in your goals, no.
I think it can supplement things like really hard work, planning/strategy, creativity/talent and just generally where the cards fall.
But wishful thinking really isn't the same as taking action, doing your best and thinking on the bright side. -
Don't get me started ....
But since your did, here's my take:
There is a grain of truth, and the rest is hype.
The author of "The Secret" really has only one secret: how to pimp other peoples' work for your own gain, spin a basic principle of mental hygiene, and make a bundle making your audience feel bad about themselves.
Did I say that I'm not a fan? :-P -
The same old New Agey simplistic, incredibly self-centered and anti-compassionate version of karma repackaged yet again.
Then, maybe those people being slaughtered in Darfur really just need more positive attitudes....
Makes me sick. -
A review from a local: "There are many books out there that explore visualisation and the laws of attraction, this is definitely not one of the better examples. It is however brilliantly marketed, sadly though for a book so completely lacking in substance this has not done the self-empowerment industry any good." www.harmoniousliving.co.za/Reviews/Books/The-Secret/
This does not motivate me to buy it or read it. -
You have to hand it to them ~ Brilliant marketing!
Essentially, it’s a good concept, but there are so many other aspects of life that affect The Law of Attraction and your outcome, that, unless you have mastered it, it makes it almost impossible to get what you want, when you want.
I enjoy The Secret.
But, then again, I enjoy anything that has to do with self improvement.
I'm a self improvement junkie! lol -
Never offend people with substance when you can offend them with style. That seems to be the "Secret" as practiced today.

It is a brilliant bit of marketing of repackaged ideas, philosophies that have been around for centuries, etc.
I start hearing alarm bells when anyone tries to tell me I need to read a new found spiritual guru (of all spiritual persuasions) who disguise age old wisdom as new and amazing and will save your life as they happily skip to the bank. What is that saying, beware the false prophets.
Sure there are elements in the book that are of value (all these type books take a seed of a truth and expand on it), but it isn't new, and it isn't a secret. -
The philosophies are certainly nothing new. I do admire people's ability to market this stuff tho. Especially, as I said ... nothing new there.
edit: Or what jafabrit said above, LOL ... didn't see that before I started typing. -
Oh my, i had a friend who was OBSESSED with that video. *rolls eyes* I really think it is sad they are making so much money off people based on an old philosophy most people already know anyway. Be pro active and go for what you want in life - (enter 'duh') It's definitely no 'secret'. As for law of attraction, I really don't believe in that crap. My ex was really wierd about that and thought if he just thought about money alot he would be rich soon. Me, I'm more about being active and DOING things to achieve goals, not just thinking or 'visualizing' them. That's at least my 2 cents on it - I'm a type A personality and that stuff just doesn't set well with me. =P

The Law of Attraction is not a secret and I paid to see that "Film" and wanted my 5 Bucks back... The secret was crap...
Instead of these people saying how the law can help you change your life and how u see this world, it was all about being Rich, and it seems that they are the ones who Profited. I say they profited because I remember seeing this all over the book stores and a "sold out" sign. -
I've just started reading The Secret and to be honest, their big secret isn't that big, nor brilliant. Though, it's true, that if you think positively about something, and your actions work towards your goal, it might bring you much closer to where you want to be, than hanging around depressing all the time that you're not getting what you want. Be focused, take failure as a cue that you're on your way to success, and keep smiling. One day you'll reach happiness. However tough the journey was. (Now I have to start listening to my own advice)

This movie as set a lot of debating and for a good reason: It delivers a lot of expectations towards the viewer.
I had the opportunity to read lots of books on self-development, Coaching, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). I was also introduced to the Eastern Philosophies through my yoga practice.
The secret is a big blend of all that. Many, many aspects of the movie/book are related to NLP or eastern philosophies and also Quantum physics.
The 2 main flaws about this movie are actually the same flaw.
The movie gives the impression that wishful thinking will get you what you want and many people actually end up believing it is so.
Getting the right mindset should be a high priority when you want to achieve important goals. Yet, this is not enough. You will have to take responsibility for your life and take actions towards what you want in order to make it happen.
This movie has good intentions but has been highly misunderstood in my opinion.
If you are interested in the more scientific side of things, which I am, you should consider watching : What The Bleep Do We Know?
