Bloggergabby started a discussion recently and I wanted to explore it a step further. You see, there was this great quote there:

And I thought 'that's so profound' AND I found the discussion after it was CLOSED!
So here goes. I'm ready to get calluses (sp?) on my fingers for you!
Mind you, I'll work my way thru EVERYTHING, eventually.

Hi Cameron! I checked out the link you provided and I like what you are doing, I'm having a little trouble seeing some things. I'll get on the good computer at some point and look around a little more - I'll make my comment within a week.
BTW, I went to the blogger site you mentioned in the bottom most post - not sure how to get make good use of it yet. You might do a follow up and discuss how to use their site. It looks pretty interesting. (the darn thing killed my browser though. i need a new system...

Ok, maybe I should've explained the rules better in the start. The idea is that the visitors answer the questions by commenting. If they answer it correctly, they get points for each answered question.
Once the question is solved, we put the correct answer in the post, so the others can see it without browsing the post. -

Have you ever been to the Cleveland Museum of Art (CMA, CAM? must be CMA...)
It is very weird to see the Rodin with a tear in the side... The museum itself is well worth a visit. I live in Southern California now - I sure miss CMA!

Hi firerobin! Thanks for stopping by. I went to your blog and I could not tell how to make a comment. Good story about the ticket though.
My system is old and tired, I know. I went to the 'good' computer and it wouldn't log off so that I could log on (my boyfriend is on BC as well) so that is why the delay in posting to some of the blogs here. I'm working on it.
BTW, I tried to 'sign out' from BC too and it wouldn't let me. I remember a time when I could.
Anyone else with this issue?

Well it means two things actually.
First of all, a lot of people have a so called Blogroll on their
Blog page. This is basically a list of other blogs they like to read.
They post it there so they can share it with others.
(Blogroll also means a roll of toilet paper, altough I can't say for sure
it has got anything to do with the subject at hand)
OpenID is a system which allows people to log in on various sites
with a single digital ID. It's a completely free and open standard.
Advantages:
- People don't have to register with a new username and password
on every site they visit.
- Sites NEVER get your password, only the OpenID provider does.
Think of the OpenID provider as your financial institution,
they give you a credit card which you can use in any shop
to pay. The shops never get your secret pin code, instead they
trust financial company who gave you the card when it says you are
who you say you are.
Getting an OpenID is really simple: http//www.myopenid.com.
This is just one "provider" but there are many out there and
anybody can become a provider. Even more, once you have an OpenID
you can even use your own blog Url as an OpenID.
That means I can log into sites using either voidy.myopenid.com
or blogs.homelinux.org. An article on how to do this can be found here:

If you have an AIM or .Mac you already have an OpenID,
so you don't need to create one. You can simply log in to any
OpenID enabled site using your AIM or .Mac username.

When I started working on ObjectBlog, the blog system I'm using,
I designed it with OpenID support from the start. I don't want people
to have to register just in order to be able to post comments.
Now people have 2 options, either they use their OpenID
or they fill in a Captcha. If they use their OpenID my site
contacts their provider and asks them to verify the authentication.

Back to the Blogroll now.
Normally people add blogs to their blogroll manually.
But I decided that people who take the time to log in on my
blog should get something in return, so when they do log in
a link appears on top of the page (Edit your profile) which
allows them to fill in their profile (completely optional).
When they do, their Blog url is automatically added to my blogroll.
Useful for them to get some more traffic, useful for me as I get
to read the blogs of people who read mine, always interesting.
In the future I'm going to expand this feature so that people who
have logged in will be able to use their images from Picasa Web Albums
or flicker in their comments to my entries.
The source code for ObjectBlog will be published at
objectblog.googlecode.com. It's written in C#, targeting
ASP.NET 2.0 (at the moment) and uses SQLite as a database backend,
since I belive MySQL is overkill for blog systems and their current
license scheme is a very dangerous one for the open source community.
I hope this explains a few things (if not to much). -
