I click on ads if I got something out of the post. I guess it's like leaving a tip.
    1. covertmetaphor
I find that rather cool. Never thought about that.
    2. AngkarA
      Yes... that was kewl

    so fishforfood.blogspot.com
  3. pumpsmart
I click on AdSense if the ad sparks an interest that I'm willing to persue. So in my case it's the author of the ad rather than the article that proves to be of most import.
  4. MadameX
Not unless I'm actually interested in the ad content (which doesn't really come up very often). It's easy to think of it as leaving a "free tip" for the site owner, but those clicks aren't really free. The company that's advertising there is paying good money on a per-click basis, and clicking just to drive up clicks is sort of like...theft. There might be a kind of Robin Hood sense to stealing money from the big wealthy advertiser and passing it on to the poor little blogger, but it's not really our money to reallocate.
  5. Linc4Justice
I do the same thing, if a post is useful I click on an Adsense link to show my appreciation, though I try to find an ad link I'm genuinely interested in.

Unless of course it's an A-list blogger, then I ignore the ads. They make enough money as it is. :-P
  6. Mahesha
I have never done that because ads do not attract me. I read the content and sometimes will comment. If your post had a link, I will be interested to know what it is. Any way ads do not matter to me now, my blog disappeared. And someone is using the URL.
  7. kingtang
Yes i do. sometimes b'coz of the ads content or simply just a charity for the other blogger. hihihi...=)
  8. geminito
Rather than earn a few nickels and dimes from an AdSense click, I would much rather people just leave a comment about the article they just read. That gives me a much bigger thrill than $0.33 from an anonymous ad click!
  9. crinago1172
well it pays to help other people who are dedicated to blogging so I do click on ads whenever possible. it's my way of saying thanks for your wonderful blogs!
  10. cymrusteve
if the ad interests me i'll click, if not, i don't....

i'm with geminito - a comment makes my day rather than an anonymous click "just because"...
    1. jungl
Heh, I actually just left a comment on your blog (before I read this). :-)
    2. cymrusteve
thanks jungl! glad you found the face!

I very rarely click on ads on any kind of site, because they usually don't attract my interest. I hadn't thought about the issue before, but I'm with Tiffany (aka MadameX) on this one.
  13. crispnet
I'll click on the ads if it's interest me or it's something I'm looking for.
Many times I click them when the article is so good that it's hard not to reward them for writing great articles.
  14. inspiroi
Yes, I click if I see interesting article and add content is interesting.
  15. zawadi
If I see an Ad i'm interested in,I will click the Ad :0
  16. bnsullivan
Yep, if it's for something of interest I'll click -- but only if I notice the ad in the first place. Usually I tune out the ads, more or less unconsciously.
  17. vertito
yea, atleast a tip for someone doing the blog regardless.
  18. Serenacyh
I have clicked on Adsense ads before. Not for tip but for links that I am interested in.
  19. Berryvox
I'll click on ads that interest me. Links to online games mostly.
  20. thereyoucome
I often click when reading news or looking for somethings, it seems the content from adsense are updated and professional:)
  21. SARASTEXTURECRAFTS
If an ad is of interest, or something I am looking for then yes.

If you're wishing for tips (AdSense clickers) from Malaysians, be prepared to be disappointed big time! Malaysians are the worst AdSense clickers. Totally blind to AdSense ads.. They won't click on them even though the ads would have something good for them.

Most of AdSense clicks came from US and European countries.. Thank you fellas!
  27. elfreakz
that is so true sahabatul.. some of malaysian even insult you for having adsense in your blog some even stop coming to your site. weird, maybe malaysian need more education on adsense eheheheh.. im malaysian anyway
  28. sahabatul
While I'm at it, the same goes for Singaporeans & Indonesians.. They may not like what I have said just now but I have figures and stats to prove it.. I've been using AdSense and AdWords for years now.. My Google Analytics figures said it all.. They are just as blind to AdSense like Malaysians. They are all looking for money on AdSense but never bothered to give some clicks for some other people even though the ads interests them.. Funny beings they are..

He he.. I'm a Malaysian too but I'm gracious fella.. If you feed me with some good information, humor or tear-jerking stories, I would normally leave them with a few clicks on their AdSense.. That's me.. I'm not stupid or selfish.. If you expect people to click on your AdSense ads, then you would have to give some clicks for others.. What goes around, comes around..
  29. dpasquella
I have had NUMEROUS times, where I wanted to click on my own ads, simply because the content was so much of interest! And I think we all have had that, since the ads go by our own content.

I'll click on yours if you click on mine! *wink wink* ha!
  30. dpasquella
(Which I know that you can't click on your own ads!!!) bad!
  31. jimbozs2000
I do use other peoples adsence,it makes my searches alot easier and Im finding sites I never Knew about and some of them are prety good and usefull based on the fact that there paying for the ads so there useuly well built sites. If you dont do alot of site searching though I could see why you wouldnt use adsence or any other form of search
  32. auctionwally
I have to admit, I rarely click on adsense, but when I do, I'll be damned, but I usually end up buying what I click on. Google knows what it's doing, I thing they are getting the relevancy down pat.
  33. shuva
After reading this, I feel that I am the only soul who dont even look at the ads.
  34. crystalcash
I click on adsense when the ad interests me. I usually click on ads often because I have a low attention span on the internet and when I see something that looks interesting, i'll click away. The only exception is on myspace. If I see an ad on myspace I'll just type the URL into the browser. I don't think Rupert Murdock needs any more money. :-P
  35. ladynada

  37. Kiwipulse
I click sometimes when I read an interesting article and I want to support the author or if I find something interesting in the ads.
  38. Madlabent
MarksMatter has a good reason for doing so. It is a nice thing to do. If there is an interesting link, then it will be clicked on. If not, it is ignored, but after reading marksmatter's comment, I just may do so in the future, to leave "a tip".
  39. Norski
I have, very rarely, clicked on an AdSense link: and then, because I was interested in something that might be at the other end.

On the one hand, it's arguable that I should be nicer to my fellow-bloggers.

On the other hand, it's arguable that I'm acting correctly, because some business is paying for that click, and clicking without regard to the good of the businesses is not ethical.

I'm not sure that I'm sold on either argument.
  40. Zmoney
I click on them sometimes trying to lend a hand anyway i can
  41. RobSellen
    Sometimes. ;o)
  42. bsd13
All the time. I never have any intention of buying any of the garbage but I figure it gives someone a few extra cents to their name.
    1. RobSellen
You read blogs that sell garbage? :o/
  43. Gadgeteer
Google is smart, and will figure it out. But feel free to click on my ads.
  44. rlowe1980
i'll click the ads if i remember to.. nobody ever clicks on mine, but what the hell, i click everyones anyway.. it doesnt hurt me any.. adsense is the most popular, and i have bidvertise and chitika.. some people dont know about it...
  45. icwt
I sometimes click, but it doesn't really matter. As long as people click on MY AdSense, thats all I care about. But Google catches on to any "click to leave a tip" type of things, so I never even mention the ads at all in anything I write, I just let the clicks fall where they may.
  46. syam165
I click them whenever I feel those links contain useful information or the words attract my interest.
  47. patrickac
seldom... i click only when it's interesting. i'll click on anyone's adsense, it makes no difference to me coz i don't see it as a significant source of online income. hmmm... have never thought of it as a tip or charity or karma. just an ad =)
  48. caseyc
If I like the blog I try to find an ad I'm interested in. My conscience won't let me click on ads I'm not interested in. I've never actually followed through and purchased anything, though...People using adwords can actually choose not to place their ads on pages outside of the google domain, so I think they know the risk they're taking.
  49. JustAFarmBoy23
Not many...although the "leaving a tip" idea seems good.
  50. fiveblondes
I clicked on an AdSense ad today for the first time in ages (aside from clicking by accident). Quite simply, it appealed to me!
  51. zawadi
I click on really weird Ads, like the ones on ghost blogs and Paranormal stuff lol.
  52. deb2012
I never have, but I might. It makes me wonder if attempting to monetize my little blog is even a good idea. Does it turn potential readers off to see my ads? I wonder.
  53. cymrusteve
i'd rather get a couple of decent comments than a few anonymous adsense clicks...but if you're genuinely interested in an ad by all means click it!
  54. ozzieblackcat
I click on other peoples ads because I'm not allowed to click on my own. Sometimes I see ads that I'm genuinely interested in so when I see the same ad on someone else's site, I go for it. I think it sounds like a great idea to click on a person's ads as a tip if you liked their blog. That's something we could all do in addition to making comments on each other's blogs.

Adsense and Blog Advertising already has a bad rep here, this makes it look like people who use adsense want to somehow cheat or, some kind of con going on.

I use Adsense an Kontera and Clickbooth, because I want to save this revenue for something needed. Like a Life lol. School, books, Desk, etc...

This is not kool at all
  57. tonyspad
    I like this tip idea
  58. digitalflower
I guess its easy to be a big tipper with someone else's money
  59. kickingback77
Yes, when the link appeals to me. I've found some great websites through adsense that I would never have found organically in Google.

    www.engagementringquestions.com
  60. gerri50
I have clicked on other people's adsense if the ad is something I am interested in of course.
  61. lilyruth
Well I hope all of you all will go to lilyruthsthisandthat.blogspot.com and give me some clicks on my ads they are towards my goal. And also go and click on the ads at dogcents.blogspot.com that is also for a fund raiser to Save the Dogs so all the click you can give is greatly appreciated and I thank all of you now if any of you do go and help me out with the clicks.
    1. crkian
This is annoying all you do is give links to your sites, offer something else and people may get interested, trawl past your 4000 ads and read your content
  62. zawadi
Please don't ask for clicks, people who have Adsense on their blogs are getting a bad rep.
  63. richgrad
Generally I find that US traffic tends to be more profitable with adsense.
  64. scoop580
It can't hurt to help out your fellow blogger so why not.

I never even look at these things. It's like a part of the background.
  67. auctionwally
I click on the ads if I like the content. And the funny thing is that usually the ad brings me to something I'm interested in. I don't always buy, or sign up, but lots of times I do.

You know, I'm not for over advertising or spam, but what the hell. Does everyone who insist that they never click on ads expect a free ride 100% of the time?

All of this free software and bandwith is being paid for by someone, that someone is ultimately going to want a return on their investment. If no one ever clicks on the ads, then the sites and software will either go down or they'll be forced to charge a subscription fee.

So yeah, if you like a blog or a site, leave a tip, and if they have an actual donation button, leave something there if their content is worth it to you.

We can either support each other, or hand everything back over to the big companies that ran everything big before the internet. Does anyone remember what that was like?

We have the entire world now available within a few clicks, to hear some people gripe about an ad appearing on a page just seems shortsighted and selfish.
  68. infonistacrat
I click if I am interested in the ad, for sure. And loving the post usually puts me in the mood to love the ads. :-) Seriously, I have clicked on ads, and a lot of time signed up for stuff from them, so I never feel bad about clicking.

I like when people go to infonistacrat.hometownproject.org and leave me a "tip", or fuel, or whatever, and if they happen to tell me about it in a message or whatever, I usually feel inclined to reciprocate.
    1. slowshow
cool..so I clicked on yours free music ad, will you click on mine?:))..

      www.indymusic.blogspot.com
  69. jude8753
I prefer comments to someone clicking on an ad, but if I saw something that interested me I would follow the link.
  70. Rozie818
We used to rely on google ads ( not anymore ) Bust as we surfed, we would click on anything that looked resourceful. We are always looking for good resources and if the ads offer them we check them out.
  71. n8
I almost never click on AdSense ads. From the money I get back from AdSense it would seem that that is everyone's consensus. I get better returns on other affiliate programs. I'll click on something if it's interesting, but I almost never pay attention to AdSense ads.
  72. infonistacrat
As a good example of why I click...I just found this great site that lets you listen to new music, two at a time, and then judge which is better. There are prizes for the mist popular bands and such. So I win by listening to new music, and the bands win with exposure.

THATS what I always look at the ads, because sometimes, you do find stuff you like that you never new you needed!
  73. djumbox
If i liked the blog/site, sure, why not. I see it like this - people don't put the ads just to inform you they love Google. The ads are here to earn a dollar or two. It's just my way to say 'thanks' for the entertainment.

I'm only click the Ad. that i want to interested.
  76. quachee
only click if there's something useful there
  77. ThinGirlInside
I click on ads if I'm truly interested in the product or service.

This whole idea of clicking on ads as a way of "leaving a tip" for a good post seems ridiculous to me.

If you think someone deserves a tip, YOU SHOULD PAY THE TIP...but by clicking randomly on an adsense ad, you're causing another business to foot your bill, YOU'RE not leaving a tip at all!!! You're stealing money from a business to pay your tip! I don't understand why people don't understand that simple concept.

I'm a small business owner who uses adwords and pays for it with my hard-earned money, and I DON'T WANT TO PAY YOUR TIPS!! If you think someone deserves a tip, find a way to pay it yourself.
  78. Pentad
You bet! Like a tip or donation
    1. ThinGirlInside
Pentad, please read my post...just above yours.

BUSINESS OWNERS SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY YOUR TIPS!!!!

If you feel like someone deserves a tip, find a way to pay it out of your own damn pocket!!! Don't steal from companies to pay your bill.
  79. kopidunia
If I'm interested in the ad, sure.
  80. markstoneman
You should only click ads that interest you. Otherwise you might as well be stealing.
  81. Pentad
Please. Calm down now. I'm also an ad-advertiser. I actually pick an ad that interests me, and I have many times purchased what's hiding behind it. SO, NOW SOMEONE HAS EARNED FROM IT! haha...You really shouldn't assume so much, and you cannot control these types of markets anyway. Those are the risks you take. I really recommend that people have Paypal's donation service on their blogs.
    1. markstoneman
"You really shouldn't assume so much"

No one was assuming anything. We were just taking you at your word. "Like a tip or donation" means just that. It says nothing about your interest in the product advertised. The additional explanation helps, but I have a problem with one other statement:

"You cannot control these types of markets anyway. Those are the risks you take."

That comes a little too close to justifying people's breaking rules and stealing just because they can. Sure, the advertiser needs to beware, but we might also try to keep straight what is right and wrong here.
    2. markstoneman
One other thing: why do you recommend the PayPal thing? Have you had any positive experiences with donations? I myself am skeptical.
  82. Pentad
It was assumed that I just "click to click", and I don't. I choose ads I like. Yet, instead of asking, I got yelled at. If I purchase after the click, there is a win/win, both for the advertiser and the blogger. If I click at all, it is usually in support of blogs that I read often and subscribe to.

I've been paying for google advertisement myself for a couple of years now, and I do know as a business owner what it costs. Yet, every business owner needs a risk policy, and a such policy will show which investments can be made (including which types of advertisement) from one's risk tolerance. Business owners really can't get upset that people "click" if they have a business plan and a risk policy...."clicking without purchasing" should be a known factor, and should be calculated in the risk policy. Save the emotions for the creative side of the business.

I really don't get the comment about "breaking rules"...those ads are out there. People are going to click on them. When ads are there for the clicking, individual business owners cannot control these markets! It is one of the business risks that is taken when a business owner willingly chooses to advertise with google ads. If that is a risk that is too expensive, then they need to find an advertising avenue that is more "low-risk".
Yes, lots of positive experiences with Paypal's donation service. I receive donations, and I donate often to my favorite bloggers. Keep the money flowing!! ;o))))))))
  83. digitalflower
I have Ad Block for Firefox now and I never see the ads. My enjoyment of the internet has gone up substantially since then.
  84. ozzieblackcat
Lately I've been clicking on more adsense ads for other bloggers. I figure most are like me and hoping to make a little income from their blogs.
  85. jafabrit
WE have an ad block and I don't normally go to a lot of blogs that are themed for making money with ads, or I don't notice the ads if they are there. It is not intentional, just that I tend to focus on the content, comment if it warrants it, and then move on.
  86. EddieJohn66
Not as often as I should!!
  87. RobertDi
well clicking on a ad and not buying is not good for the bloger.. it ends up putting him into the smart pricing area and he gets less per click and shitty ads.... Social traffic makes me no money however SE traffic does I can have 1000 se visits and will average over a 1.00 or more a click. When I get a lot of social traffic I notice i get between 5 cents to 35 cents a click
  88. Sylvia
Well said Robert, it is a fine art once you know what you are doing with your traffic.
