Not unless I'm actually interested in the ad content (which doesn't really come up very often). It's easy to think of it as leaving a "free tip" for the site owner, but those clicks aren't really free. The company that's advertising there is paying good money on a per-click basis, and clicking just to drive up clicks is sort of like...theft. There might be a kind of Robin Hood sense to stealing money from the big wealthy advertiser and passing it on to the poor little blogger, but it's not really our money to reallocate.

if the ad interests me i'll click, if not, i don't....
i'm with geminito - a comment makes my day rather than an anonymous click "just because"... -

If you're wishing for tips (AdSense clickers) from Malaysians, be prepared to be disappointed big time! Malaysians are the worst AdSense clickers. Totally blind to AdSense ads.. They won't click on them even though the ads would have something good for them.
Most of AdSense clicks came from US and European countries.. Thank you fellas! -
While I'm at it, the same goes for Singaporeans & Indonesians.. They may not like what I have said just now but I have figures and stats to prove it.. I've been using AdSense and AdWords for years now.. My Google Analytics figures said it all.. They are just as blind to AdSense like Malaysians. They are all looking for money on AdSense but never bothered to give some clicks for some other people even though the ads interests them.. Funny beings they are..
He he.. I'm a Malaysian too but I'm gracious fella.. If you feed me with some good information, humor or tear-jerking stories, I would normally leave them with a few clicks on their AdSense.. That's me.. I'm not stupid or selfish.. If you expect people to click on your AdSense ads, then you would have to give some clicks for others.. What goes around, comes around.. -
I do use other peoples adsence,it makes my searches alot easier and Im finding sites I never Knew about and some of them are prety good and usefull based on the fact that there paying for the ads so there useuly well built sites. If you dont do alot of site searching though I could see why you wouldnt use adsence or any other form of search

I click on adsense when the ad interests me. I usually click on ads often because I have a low attention span on the internet and when I see something that looks interesting, i'll click away. The only exception is on myspace. If I see an ad on myspace I'll just type the URL into the browser. I don't think Rupert Murdock needs any more money. :-P

I have, very rarely, clicked on an AdSense link: and then, because I was interested in something that might be at the other end.
On the one hand, it's arguable that I should be nicer to my fellow-bloggers.
On the other hand, it's arguable that I'm acting correctly, because some business is paying for that click, and clicking without regard to the good of the businesses is not ethical.
I'm not sure that I'm sold on either argument. -
All the time. I never have any intention of buying any of the garbage but I figure it gives someone a few extra cents to their name.
-
If I like the blog I try to find an ad I'm interested in. My conscience won't let me click on ads I'm not interested in. I've never actually followed through and purchased anything, though...People using adwords can actually choose not to place their ads on pages outside of the google domain, so I think they know the risk they're taking.
-
I click on other peoples ads because I'm not allowed to click on my own. Sometimes I see ads that I'm genuinely interested in so when I see the same ad on someone else's site, I go for it. I think it sounds like a great idea to click on a person's ads as a tip if you liked their blog. That's something we could all do in addition to making comments on each other's blogs.

Adsense and Blog Advertising already has a bad rep here, this makes it look like people who use adsense want to somehow cheat or, some kind of con going on.
I use Adsense an Kontera and Clickbooth, because I want to save this revenue for something needed. Like a Life lol. School, books, Desk, etc...
This is not kool at all -
Yes, when the link appeals to me. I've found some great websites through adsense that I would never have found organically in Google.

I click on the ads if I like the content. And the funny thing is that usually the ad brings me to something I'm interested in. I don't always buy, or sign up, but lots of times I do.
You know, I'm not for over advertising or spam, but what the hell. Does everyone who insist that they never click on ads expect a free ride 100% of the time?
All of this free software and bandwith is being paid for by someone, that someone is ultimately going to want a return on their investment. If no one ever clicks on the ads, then the sites and software will either go down or they'll be forced to charge a subscription fee.
So yeah, if you like a blog or a site, leave a tip, and if they have an actual donation button, leave something there if their content is worth it to you.
We can either support each other, or hand everything back over to the big companies that ran everything big before the internet. Does anyone remember what that was like?
We have the entire world now available within a few clicks, to hear some people gripe about an ad appearing on a page just seems shortsighted and selfish. -
I click if I am interested in the ad, for sure. And loving the post usually puts me in the mood to love the ads. :-) Seriously, I have clicked on ads, and a lot of time signed up for stuff from them, so I never feel bad about clicking.
I like when people go to infonistacrat.hometownproject.org and leave me a "tip", or fuel, or whatever, and if they happen to tell me about it in a message or whatever, I usually feel inclined to reciprocate. -
-
As a good example of why I click...I just found this great site that lets you listen to new music, two at a time, and then judge which is better. There are prizes for the mist popular bands and such. So I win by listening to new music, and the bands win with exposure.
THATS what I always look at the ads, because sometimes, you do find stuff you like that you never new you needed! -
-
I click on ads if I'm truly interested in the product or service.
This whole idea of clicking on ads as a way of "leaving a tip" for a good post seems ridiculous to me.
If you think someone deserves a tip, YOU SHOULD PAY THE TIP...but by clicking randomly on an adsense ad, you're causing another business to foot your bill, YOU'RE not leaving a tip at all!!! You're stealing money from a business to pay your tip! I don't understand why people don't understand that simple concept.
I'm a small business owner who uses adwords and pays for it with my hard-earned money, and I DON'T WANT TO PAY YOUR TIPS!! If you think someone deserves a tip, find a way to pay it yourself. -
-
Please. Calm down now. I'm also an ad-advertiser. I actually pick an ad that interests me, and I have many times purchased what's hiding behind it. SO, NOW SOMEONE HAS EARNED FROM IT! haha...You really shouldn't assume so much, and you cannot control these types of markets anyway. Those are the risks you take. I really recommend that people have Paypal's donation service on their blogs.
-
"You really shouldn't assume so much"
No one was assuming anything. We were just taking you at your word. "Like a tip or donation" means just that. It says nothing about your interest in the product advertised. The additional explanation helps, but I have a problem with one other statement:
"You cannot control these types of markets anyway. Those are the risks you take."
That comes a little too close to justifying people's breaking rules and stealing just because they can. Sure, the advertiser needs to beware, but we might also try to keep straight what is right and wrong here.

It was assumed that I just "click to click", and I don't. I choose ads I like. Yet, instead of asking, I got yelled at. If I purchase after the click, there is a win/win, both for the advertiser and the blogger. If I click at all, it is usually in support of blogs that I read often and subscribe to.
I've been paying for google advertisement myself for a couple of years now, and I do know as a business owner what it costs. Yet, every business owner needs a risk policy, and a such policy will show which investments can be made (including which types of advertisement) from one's risk tolerance. Business owners really can't get upset that people "click" if they have a business plan and a risk policy...."clicking without purchasing" should be a known factor, and should be calculated in the risk policy. Save the emotions for the creative side of the business.
I really don't get the comment about "breaking rules"...those ads are out there. People are going to click on them. When ads are there for the clicking, individual business owners cannot control these markets! It is one of the business risks that is taken when a business owner willingly chooses to advertise with google ads. If that is a risk that is too expensive, then they need to find an advertising avenue that is more "low-risk".
Yes, lots of positive experiences with Paypal's donation service. I receive donations, and I donate often to my favorite bloggers. Keep the money flowing!! ;o)))))))) -

well clicking on a ad and not buying is not good for the bloger.. it ends up putting him into the smart pricing area and he gets less per click and shitty ads.... Social traffic makes me no money however SE traffic does I can have 1000 se visits and will average over a 1.00 or more a click. When I get a lot of social traffic I notice i get between 5 cents to 35 cents a click
