At the moment at my two blogs I'm only getting about 700 visitors a day total.

How can I increase that with good traffic? The qualty of my my blogs is very high if you do a comparison to what is around.

where to from here?...and don't try and sell me anything or the wrath of the Panda will be bestowed upon you.

ONLY about 700 visitors a day?!
If I were in New Zealand, I'd kick your ass for that statement.

      I was born in Gisborne

In fact last night I dreamt I went there, first time in my whole life. I may take a holiday there at some point, the dream made inspired me.

Is this a serious question or are you just mocking people? I can never tell with you anymore, lol.
    1. acousticguitarist
      I'm serious.

My blogs originally were tests for products I'm making, I was just trying to get a feeling bfor what worked, it's sort of worked, but I think good traffic would be 10,000 a day with traffic from multiple streams, theres a lot of guitarists out there and a lot of crap. I know a lot about guitar, jazz theory, classical Indian music, plus I have taught for 33 years and have done guitar making and watch the development of the guitar over that time. I have some other ideas but can't use them yet. So 'm looking for a few ideas I midn't have thought of that I can use now to embed my sites deeply into the web so they don't go away regardless what Google does.

Yes I'm serious, but my panda tail keeps hitting me on the head and says 'stop it, stop it'

Um, your bragging again and I protest!

      No, I'm serious

Í need stuff, read the comment above
    2. globalgirl
Okay, my friend, here are a few ideas to spur you on, like 'em or not:

      1. write relevant BOOK/MUSIC reviews on Amazon with a link to your blog
      2. tweeting your blog posts
      3. links to your site from music websites/shops
      4. create a squidoo lens (squidoo.com)
      5. give away something for free on your blog

      ...ideas depleted for now....
    3. acousticguitarist
      Thanks

      There's a few options

I think I created a squdoo but haven't used it yet
    4. drjay1966
      globalgirl:
Are you allowed to put links in reviews on Amazon?
  5. polybore
Well to start with you have made a huge error. Your two blogs are well written, informative and contain original work. Look, you are never going to increase your visitors that way. In fact I'm surprised you get any traffic at all.
    1. acousticguitarist
So shall I drop the quality a bit?

Is slang better, it could be that I'm getting older. I might have to get my daughter to help me write the same stuff in a cooler way.
    2. polybore
Actually you could try putting a video or two on youtube. One of my most popular posts is a really dull one on how to sync audio and video in an avi file. I posted a screen recording of this on youtube and it generates a bit of traffic to my blog.

Now you have a skill which is very very good for youtube. I'm sure it get a lot of views over time and provide a new source of traffic. If you are prepared to go the whole hog then playing the guitar with a chicken on your head would help maximise impact.

The chicken is of course optional.
    3. acousticguitarist
Yes, thanks. I've got a stack ready to roll, there's a CMS thing I'm trying to sort. Also I'm looking at ways of getting the audio quality higher and decreasing the file size.

I bought an external mike fo my camera, but may end up running me real studio mikes at the same time and then syncing
    4. polybore
Should work a treat people will see the vid on YouTube and want to see details of the frets, chords and stuff on your blog.
    5. acousticguitarist
yeah, there's some guys doing it. Some great, some horrendous. I've taught for 34 year so it's an advantage and teach technology in my day job. Playing is one thing, teaching is another

      Cheers

i celebrate when i got 20 daily ... so sorry, i can't help you there

Sometimes a little controversy helps to bring on readers...you know pick on a blog that you don't like for whatever reason and they will respond..their readers will show up at your blog just to see what you are complaining about and if your quality is better some will stay.
  8. markstoneman
Only? Boo hoo. Sounds pretty good, especially for niche blogs.

Tony your question is in the wrong place I think so. Many blogger in BC does not get even 100 visitor a day. and you are talking about more than 700, it makes me think to pack up my blogging.
    1. acousticguitarist
really...I thought most of the bloggers that come here regularly have lots of traffic

    acoustic,

I simply tweak my posts for google, you want to get quality traffic from google, no matter what your thoughts are about google; google is still the big boy and google traffic is it.

If you know where your site comes in the searches for specific keywords. For example if you come up on page 5 for "acoustic guitar cords" you want to use that specific term in your posts more often without over using it.

A simple little trick to get your posts indexed super fast:
after you finish creating a post, copy the first sentence into a search and if nothing comes up you will get that post indexed sometimes within an hour. Also if that search comes up with no results be sure to use one of those keywords you are trying to rank higher with.

I started using that little trick and my traffic went from 200 unique visitors a day to over 1000 uniques a day, and search results where I was coming up on page 3 or 4 I'm now on page one and some specific terms I am number 1.

    Hope that helps a bit
    1. acousticguitarist
      Thanks Sylvia

I'm ok with google "country guitar scales"

      Sylvia

But I don't want to rely on it.

I see knol as a potential doorway
    2. Sylvia
Knol is going to be huge.

Have starting writing and sharing articles in knol?
    3. acousticguitarist
      wouldn't dream of it :-)

Tweet your posts like someone already said.
I am not familiar with your blogs but if it's all about guitar stuff do you have a myspace and facebook page as a sort of advertising blog reader catcher?
Some people have success with this.
    1. acousticguitarist
      Thanks

      I'll do that

stumble, technorati, reddit, twitter, are many such options to boost your traffic, for that you can simply mark others blog in stumble etc and they will be surely wanting to know who stumbled across their blog and thereby might end up stumbling in you or at least boosting your traffic.

Best thing I can think of for right now is to post YouTube accounts AND become friends with people who have a lot of subscribers.

My friend has over 4,000 subscribers, and he might be willing to help you out if you're talented.

    Best to you.

We've learned that when you focus on your true passion in life, especially when your goal is to be of service to others, you will succeed. Success is an Attitude. What you Believe you will Achieve. Live with high standards and let your values be your guide. We are Pro-Marriage. Our focus is on providing affirmation and resources for couples with positive attitudes who are 'married' to their best friend.
This is a hot topic right now, we could shy away from it, but that's not who we are.
We believe that anyone who wants to be married, should be married to their best friend (see our blog for details) With "Caffection" being a brand new word (just as google and wikipedia once were) there's a lot of buzz about the website launch. Many people are telling us they're excited that they know about Caffection before it goes public (or WILD, as we've been told)
However, as exciting as that is, it's even more important that everyone who wants to be married, should be allowed to be married to their best friend. If you believe in marriage, believe in marriage. You are pro-marriage, period.
Be passionate about your mission. Give it all you've got. It's worth it.

      are you serious?

You have 2 great blogs I hope you will have mire than 700 visitors.
The truth is that if I had only 700 visitors on my blogs I will jump up to the sky and smile all day...I have only 20-40 visitors/day :((

Empowering blog needs more visitors, good stuff. Reconsider your template. The red text of the post names in bold is too strong and fighting for attention

The videos on the other one need some good text to pull the visitor in

    Hi acoustic,

In blogging one hits a limit after a while. At first you become to double your traffic weekly and one gets exited. Then it kinda just stays flat but constant even though one is posting more. I think voodoo's idea is great and to add why don't you build more blogs around yours. I got like 9 blogs but 2 "main" ones. I know it takes a lot of work but you could open one in blogger and get some people from here but mainly with another niche. Like me, in one blog I get first pages on google for one term and in my other blog I get first page results on the other. Having only one has a limit as I said but you could also get into adwords or start marketing your blog.

PS: I got a Carlo Robelli guitar and I love it. What you think of that brand. I love guitars!!! and have three. The other one is an epiphone which I still have problems with and a sanish guitar "Falcon" (nice peruvian song)
    1. acousticguitarist
No I won't add more blogs unless they are exceptional and really add value, not traffic value but content value. There are very few guitar blogs that are very good quality. I have a blogger one, i use that for certain SEO testing, but it used to always fall over. I used to teach Blogger 3 or 4 years ago as part of an IT course.

Thanks for the ideas, I thiknk it through carefully.

Don't know the Robelli, sounds like a nylon string, That's Mark's (whitewood) dept.

I'd look for forums or websites that link similar niches. Something like this: www.musicblogscatalog.com/ looks small, but could be promising.
    1. acousticguitarist
yes, that's a great thought, I've neglected that

The only thing with music forums is a lot of musicians want to argue about things they know very little about. :-)
  25. Lucyvp
I second the youtube videos. Create a channel and post tutorials with catchy names like 'you suck at Photoshop' does and make sure you mention how more can be found at your blog.
    1. acousticguitarist
      lucy, thanks

genious thought on your part .. guitar sound is so bloody aweful
  26. Theresa111
I really liked the Keith video. I never gave a thought to that song in a blues(ie) manner. What a fabulous idea.
    1. acousticguitarist
      Theresa

now that he says it it's obvious. But interestingly enough, someone sugested that the form may not make it a blues. It's a blues.
