Care to share a little more of what you have in mind, Channel? Generally, I'm wary of clustering...seems contrary to our mission...but what, exactly, are you looking to create?
-
The correct question should be:
Are there any Christian single bonnie lasses out there still looking for the perfect guy? Cuz if you are I happen to know someone. :-D -
Well... though I agree with MadameX that the focus here is marketing, I do indeed believe in a risen Savior who's name is Jesus Christ. Yet, in dialog with me you may find some of your long-held thoughts about Christianity being put to the challenge. It's your call my friend.
Many blessings-
I think that everyone misunderstood my point about clustering being contrary to our mission. I didn't mean the mission here in this forum, but as Christians on earth, charged with living in the larger world and spreading love and truth. Channel, after my initial response, I read your blog, and noted a reference to that very same notion in your most recent post.
Molly--not sure what you're talking about, but I haven't seen anyone say anything negative. Linc, I'm sure, was teasing (as we are all prone to do in these forums from time to time), and I only raised an issue that's an appropriate part of the very kind of discussion Channel says (he/she?) is looking for. I certainly didn't see anyone suggesting that s/he had to defend his/her beliefs, unless you mean Pumpsmart's perfectly polite invitation to debate. Seems like the only thing ready to "touch off a heated debate" here is your very active imagination!

ChannelofHealing,
Religion seems to be a very touchy subject that could set off a heated debate at any moment. There isn't a need for you to defend your beliefs or argue. You are free to speak (type) just like everyone else is free to speak (type).
Concerning your initial post, there are some blogs on this site that cater to christians wishing to share similar beliefs. Doing a simple blog search would be suffice. Good luck

Spreading love and truth, a person would do better without a Label and a religion. What not go solo, what does a person need the religion or Label for anyway? The Almighty does not want anything in between including a cross which is Idolatry, breaking the commandments of Moses which the apostles supported.
Of course if a person is not strong enough to go solo, then grow until your strong enough, then get out.
Christianity has a very blood guilty history filled with Idolatry, Why? because this whole world is under the power of the wicked ones. Including every single religion on the face of this earth. A person's religion (for the most part) is related to what country and family you were born in. If you were born in Jordan or Egypt you would be Moslem. If you were born in India you would be Hindi or Moslem.
Every religion can lead to the same place; to a road block, or leaving it and experiencing an very intimate relationship with the Almighty Divine.
Christianity has a very bad history, which the organization is affected and will never swim out of the Falsehood and blood guilt, never!-
Enlight, I'm still waiting to hear some love and truth from you. You pay lip service to that concept a lot, but all of your comments seem to be in the negative, talking about what's wrong with a religion or religion as a whole or what evil you think some particular sect does...is there a positive side to your message, or does your philosophy extend only to the tearing down of others?

Jesus taught love and faith and condemned the religious leaders of his day.
Love and Faith with out religion is the trick. Jesus was born Jewish but he was not involved in Judaism. The religious leaders murdered him.
Love is action, going out of our way for the stranger, why? because the stranger you wont see again. Faith means without a religion. One on One relationship.
Religion is all about rules upon rules, which they use guilt, fear, and shame for control. Keep the person coming back to fill the plate.
What do you need the religion for anyway?-
"Jesus was born Jewish but he was not involved in Judaism."
Uh, no, He was involved in Judaism. He went to synagogues and read from the Torah. He performed his duties as a Jew and celebrated Passover. He fasted and prayed. He was a very good Jew, who respected his mother and went into His Father's business.
Re-read the Bible sometime.

MadameX... Why do you always have to be so testy :o)
Look at his last comment (right above yours where you addressed me). I was just referencing to that one only. Am I not allowed to post, speak, say my piece too? If not, let me know and I'll stay out of your way.
Have fun arguing with Enlight... You two have been arguing across the board about religion. Why not talk about Cantaloupes, or Ipods, or even Blogging? Find something in common and work on that. Because both of you are right in your on light.

Molly, I think that very often whether or not a situation "blows up" depends on what kind of "spin" is placed on it. Channel, to my knowledge, is new here. To create the impression that he/she is under attack (when I don't believe that to be the case) might well impact his/her whole perception of the community here, so it seemed worth pointing out.
As for the discussion with Enlight, I tend (as anyone who has been around here for a while can attest) to keep my religious views to myself. I have a strong religious commitment and I have a blog that focuses on my Catholicism, but I assume that anyone who is interested in hearing about my faith will visit it and feel no need to inject it into conversations where it isn't relevant. For better or worse, Enlight doesn't seem to share that view, and has over the past several days been throwing unprovoked (and largely irrelevant) attacks on the Catholic church and other religions into a number of threads that have nothing to do with religion or the church (ie: Sex Sells). Those attacks frequently contain blatant misinformation about the teachings of my church, and while I don't feel that this is in any way an appropriate forum in which to discuss religion (nor that there is ANY appropriate forum in which to issue unprovoked attacks on someone else's religion), I can no more stand by and "listen" to someone lie about the teachings of my church in a public forum than I could listen to them lie about my sister or my child.
You say "both of you are right in your own light", but what's troubling me, and what I'm responding to, isn't a matter of opinion--it's about whether or not the Catholic church teaches the things that Enlight says that it does. That's a factual question, and the factual answer is "no". -
Enlight, there were many years of my life during which I wasn't practicing any religion and didn't have any "attachment" to a particular religion, nor even any particularly clear belief in God; however, I've always had a fairly strong "attachment" to truth, intellectual honesty, logic, and coherence, so I can say with some confidence that I would have found your need to squeeze empty and repetitive attacks on various religions into conversations about a wide range of unrelated topics just as offensive then as I do now. In fact, although I am less well equipped to respond to them, I am just as disgusted by your rantings about Islam as I am about your continual mischaracterizations of the teachings of the Catholic church.

This thread is how this subject started with MadameX.

Ok, MadameX...
I feel the need to make peace. I'm sorry for whatever I have said to offend anyone. Maybe my "hyper imagination" imagined that he/she felt as though they had to defend his beliefs (hence he said: I will not defend my beliefs). I don't really like talking religion either. I should have kept my fingers still on this one.
I humbly offer apologies. Have a great evening MadameX and the rest BC bloggers. :o)

Thanks, Molly, and I, too, apologize, if I came across as "testy". I think that the statement about not being interested in defending his beliefs but in sharing the faith (paraphrasing) was a response to someone inviting intelligent debate, but the impulse to step in if you thought that he felt under attack is a kind one that can't be faulted.

Catholic. Very, very Catholic. Which, I'm afraid, annoys the heck out of a lot of people.
It'd be nice to have a little Christian community to visit in this secular world. ^_^-
Yep. Where I grew up, there was a consensus among the Saved that there were Christians, and there were those [adjective omitted] Catholics.
The cultural attitude had a curious effect. I was born into a mainstream denomination, but was curious about exactly how Catholicism was so wicked. Now, I'm a Catholic.
Go figure.
With a background like mine, a bit cautious about "Christian" used as an adjective. Too bad. -
I like catholics!
I was just thinking again today about using pligg softwate to create a Christian social network. I had thought about this extensively a month ago, and have many ideas for it.
One major difference I would do, is not style it to post mass media articles, which I hate, to be frank and honest. I would prefer that the articles be blog posts by members from their Christian blogs. More like a Kingdom of God news social network, is what I have in my heart and mind.
